Our
projects are implemented in town - Cesis. (www.cesis.lv) This is
where our organization has an office.
Cesis is one of the most ancient cities of Latvia and historically has
been established as a centre of the Vidzeme. It is beautiful middle age town,
which offers leisure possibilities such as gym clubs, interest groups, movies,
shops, restaurants, and discos.
Cesis with its 19 000
inhabitants is a major cultural centre of Vidzeme - one of the 4 regions of Latvia. Cesis
is truly not only one of the oldest but also one of the most Latvian towns.
Rich in picturesque
landscapes and testimonies of the past, it embodies both an intriguing sense of
antiquity and modern self-esteem. Both Cesis and the Cesis district are among the most attractive
temptations for visitors of Vidzeme. If
you wish to recover your mind from the crowd of the city, you should take a
walk through the small lanes of Cesis, which still maintain their layout as in
medieval times. They cross unique silent yards, with small one- or two-storey
buildings with red tile roofs on the side. The Cesis church and the old castle-ruins with the castle park are places
where to let yourself think and wonder.
Cesis
is surrounded by beautiful forests and streams. In the forests there are birds,
boars, foxes, beavers, deer, mooses, you name it!
Ninieris is one of the many lakes in Cesis
region, where in the summer time people go swimming and bath in the sun. Cesis
is the second largest city in the Vidzeme planning region. Geographically Cesis is located 87 km from Riga,
between two significant transport corridors - Riga - Veclaicene and Incukalns - Valmiera.
